Guesthouse Husky

Guesthouse Husky is a small family business, located 5 kilometres (3 miles) from the centre and bus station of the village of Ivalo and 15 kilometres (9.5 miles) from Ivalo airport. In spring 2011 our family of five opened the 16-place guesthouse right next to our family home. Adjacent is also our Alaskan husky farm, with 150 sledge dogs.

Guesthouse Husky is surrounded by beautiful forest scenery where you can often see the reindeer graze. In summer, forest paths and roads offer wonderful hiking routes; in winter, you can conquer the white glowing snowy landscape either with snowshoes, skis or driving a sledge. Feel free to visit and pet our huskies, although perhaps you would first like to get to know them on a guided tour around the farm. If you do not fancy being surrounded by 150 husky dogs, you can always cuddle the cute puppies which you will find close to the guesthouse entrance. Our location far from the village lights ensures good possibilities to see the northern lights, given the conditions are otherwise good.

Our rooms have beds that can also be moved apart, night stands, two armchairs, a small table and a TV. The 4-bedded rooms have an additional writing desk and a chair. All rooms also have a shower and a toilet. In the shower room you will also find a hairdryer, shower gel and soap.

Our guests are welcome to cook in the compact but fully-equipped customer kitchen. The kitchen features a fridge with an ice box, electric stove and oven, dishwasher, microwave oven, coffeemaker, kettle, kitchen utensils, cutlery and crockery. Home-cooked style lunch and dinner can be ordered in advance. Tea and coffee are available all day.

Free WiFi is available in all rooms, and in the communal areas we also have an internet-connected computer for guests’ use. And if your suitcase is full of dirty clothes, help is at hand: you can use our laundry room for a small fee.

Our accommodation rates include breakfast, bed linen, towels, evening sauna, guided tour on the husky farm and cleaning after check-out. If you arrive by public transport, we can pick you up from the village of Ivalo – just inform us about your arrival time. We will be happy to help you organise your holiday programme and give you tips on great places to visit. Here you can rent snowshoes or cross-country skis, or take part in a husky safari.
