Hostel Visatupa

Located north of the Polar Circle, Visatupa is a working dairy farm right next to an unspoilt lake. The proprietors offer a warm welcome and look after their guests well. Visitors can also learn about farm work and the process of milk production.

In Visatupa you will be accommodated in tidy and cosy rooms for 2, 3 or 4 people, or in apartments for 4-6 people. The rooms are in two separate buildings, both of which have shared toilet and shower facilities, and a kitchen. The apartments have their own kitchenette, fridge, shower, toilet and a sauna. The hostel has a large and comfortable lounge that is also suitable for meetings and training sessions or even a dance.

Half and full board are also available in the hostel. We offer delicious Lappish food that is served on a plentiful buffet table. Our family-run hostel has been acknowledged for its good food and friendly service.

What better way to enjoy an evening than by relaxing in a waterside sauna and taking a dip in a lake, in summer from a pier and in winter through a hole in the ice. You can also spend your evenings in a Lappish hut, making pancakes or cooking sausages over a cosy fire. In winter, there are cross-country ski tracks in the surroundings. The hostel can provide skiing equipment and snowshoes even for a small group. Alternatively our guests can go on a snowmobile or kicksled ride, or ice-fishing. Luosto ski resort is just 44 kilometres (27.5 miles) from the hostel.

In summer, you can get to know the Lappish nature on a bike, or go fishing or rowing on two rivers nearby. In autumn, you have the opportunity to pick berries and admire the beautiful autumn leaf colour.
