Timitra Hostel

Timitra Hostel operates in North Karelia in Lieksa town about 1 mile from the town centre close to Lieksanjoki river.

The castle like building was originally designed to serve as the national training centre of the Finnish Border Guard. This gives the hostel a masculine atmosphere.

The accommodation facilities are on the second floor and consist of rooms for groups of 4 to 5 people as well as double and single rooms. On this floor there is also a spacious sauna area with showers and toilets. On the first floor there is a café restaurant.

WiFi is available in all areas and is free of charge.

Our smaller rooms and TV-room have recently been redecorated! Timitra Hostel is ideally situated near the Ruunaa, Koli and Patvinsuo outdoor and trekking areas yet offers all the services of the town.

In the summer you will find in the area great fishing oppurtunities, river rafting, bear-watching etc. In the wintertime you can drive over the ice road over the Lake Pielinen to the ski slopes of Koli. We also hire kayaks during the summer.
