Finnish Hostel Association has a new boutique-hostel in its hostel network. The Local Culture Hostel & Cafe is situated in Jyväskylä in the middle of Finland right in the heart of Finnish lakeland.
The Local Culture Hostel & Cafe has an interesting concept that combines culture, hostel and café. The hostel arranges all kinds of events! You may take part in fun pub quizzes and second hand markets, come and listen to live music, see or purchase local art and enjoy some theatre or cinematography.
The hostel is situated in a lovely, one-of-a-kind milieu in an old crown granary. The Local Culture Hostel has 11 different themed rooms, alla offering their own kind of experience. The hostel provides accommodation in comfy 2 bed private rooms and 4-6 bed dorms. Shower facilities, a well-equipped guest kitchen and a cosy living room are shared with other travellers.
The cafe’s menu offers Finnish breakfast in addition to local treats. The selection is solely based on using vegetarian and vegan options and the best produce available in the city and the region.
Built in 1851, the hostel building has an interesting history. It has been a crown granary, public and academica library and Craft Museum. In spring 2018 this historical building bexame The Local Culture Hostel & Café.
