The year 2025 has been a time of growth and diversification for the Finnish Hostel Association’s network. Several new, characterful hostels have joined the network from across Finland – offering travelers even more options to explore culture, nature, history, and community. What they all share is warm hospitality, affordability, and a commitment to providing meaningful travel experiences.

Here’s a look at the hostels that joined our network this year:

✈️ Lentohotelli in Kauhava – Aviation History Meets Hostel Accommodation

Lentohotelli in Kauhava combines historical significance with modern hospitality in the former garrison area of the Finnish Air Force Academy. The hostel is located in the Linna building, designed by architect Elsa Arokallio, which has served as a hospital and flight simulator center over the years.

With over 300 beds, Lentohotelli is one of the largest hostels in Finland. The rooms are well-equipped, and guests have access to a kitchen, restaurant, meeting facilities, laundry room, and a spacious outdoor area. Guided tours are available, and nearby attractions include PowerPark amusement park, Härmä Spa, and the Vinka Entertainment Center. Lentohotelli is an excellent choice for groups, families, and travelers with pets.

🌲 Jaala Hotel Guesthouse – Heritage Charm and Village Atmosphere in Kymenlaakso

Located between Kouvola and Heinola in the peaceful village of Jaala, this guesthouse operates in a former municipal office building. Guests can sleep in what used to be the mayor’s or building inspector’s room and enjoy the surrounding village charm and tranquility of nature.

The hostel features 10 individually decorated rooms, a shared kitchen, dining room, and play areas. Outdoors, guests can enjoy a grill shelter, traditional Finnish sauna, and a family-friendly yard. 🎨 ArtHostel Honkahovi – Where Art, History, and Hospitality Meet in Mänttä-Vilppula

ArtHostel Honkahovi invites you to stay in a beautifully restored historic villa in the art-loving town of Mänttä-Vilppula. Built in 1938, the building was originally a prestigious guest house for dignitaries and is now a boutique-style hostel with 1–2 person rooms and a total of 16 beds.

🐓 Kangaskoti in Kinnula – A Cozy Hostel Surrounded by Rural Tranquility

Kangaskoti is a warm and inviting hostel in a former village school in Kinnula, Central Finland, run by two local families. The owners live under the same roof, creating a truly homely atmosphere. Guests may even help care for the chickens in the yard!
