    The Finnish Hostel Association

    Who we are

The Finnish Hostel Association is a non-profit organization for hostel operations that was established in 1935. The Finnish Hostel Association has 30 member associations, consisting of Finnish youth-, student-, sports-, pensioners-, professional and tourism associations.

From its Helsinki based office, the Finnish Hostel Association maintains and develops the hostel network in Finland on behalf of its member associations. The Hostelling International (HI) hostels in Finland offer comfortable, cozy, and affordable accommodation. In Finland, hostels do not only operate as separate accommodation properties but also in connection with tourist centers, farms, and student apartments. Various companies and organizations, such as self-employed entrepreneurs and family companies, associations, foundations, educational institutions, student organizations, and municipalities, maintain hostels.

The Finnish Hostel Association is part of the global Hostelling International (HI) network. Located in some of the world’s most inspiring locations, the Hostelling International network offers over 3 000 unique hostels in about 60 countries worldwide. All Hostelling International (HI) hostels meet assured standards, which guarantee a range of good quality safe accommodation, in friendly surroundings at affordable prices. Within the network you will find a range of interesting places to stay, from medieval castles to modern eco-hostels! Some are small and intimate with private rooms, others are vibrant, buzzing places where you can meet fellow travelers from around the world.

A private person can become a member of HI by purchasing a Hostelling International eMembership or a hostel card. With the HI Membership or a hostel card, you will always receive a discount saving you at least 10 % off your bill in all Hostelling International (HI) hostels worldwide. The Hostelling International eMembership and hostel card allow access to other possible travel related benefits as well!
