Cozy and ecological guesthouse in Nurmes

Majatalo Pihlajapuu is a former village school located in Salmenkylä, Nurmes. The building was completed in the 1930s and served as a school until 1998. Since 2000, the property has been owned by Äksyt Ämmät Oy.

Majatalo Pihlajapuu is also referred to as a “mummola,” which means a granny’s place, due to its individually decorated rooms and the cozy atmosphere within the house. From the beginning, the hostel has followed principles of sustainable development: it has received the Visit Finland Sustainable Travel Finland (STF) label and is additionally certified by TourCert. Majatalo Pihlajapuu is located 20 km away from the center of Nurmes.
